20 minutes…just short of 10,000 hrs

I purchased two of these PAR20 CFLs for a range hood. They are a long bulb, extending some 3cm beyond the regular halogen bulb mount. Advertised 10,000 hrs of use seemed a bit ambitious, but worth a shot. Once installed, one bulb burned for no more than 20 minutes. Shortly after, the second bulb would flicker every time(strobe light style),for 10-15 seconds prior to burning. As with all CFLs, was careful not to contaminate bulb with oil from fingers, cloth used on install. I’m closing the disco kitchen and headed back to halogens, I guess. Had high hopes for these CFLs. Very disappointed in this product. Don’t waste your money, or at least buy something else locally, so you can return the product if faulty. They are right at that price point where it is questionable to pay for return shipping.

Great for darker spaces.

I ordered these to update our office to be more energy efficient (replacing the halogens) and I ended up getting a better lit and more appeasing space in the end. They take a moment to warm up (like all cfl’s) but even employees who tend to be in outer space noticed a difference.

Perfect replacement for Halogens

I bought these along with the PAR20s to refit my company’s office and they have been great. They have a great build quality and really bright output (same with the PAR30s), they seem very reliable so far – I had no problems installing them and so far they have performed really well (same could not be said for the Halogens I was using).
